Ekastha Trails

Ekastha Trails is our community-led ecotourism initiative that we began in 2020 to reconnect people with Jharkhand’s rich biodiversity. Our growing team of community naturalists and trek leaders have identified trails and activities to raise awareness about the forests of Jharkhand and local culture. We conduct trails and village visits for individuals and groups. Join us to learn more about the forests, biodiversity and culture of Jharkhand.

Our Trails

Paradise Trails in Ranchi

Paradise Trail:

Our scenic Paradise Trail is an easy 4 kilometre walk along the Rahru River. Our naturalists will tell you about local trees and birds as you sit by the river and enjoy sounds of the rapids and look out for wildlife. We can accommodate groups of up to 30 people at a time at a cost of  INR 300/- per person.

Trekking in Ranchi

Jarga Trek:

Our Jarga Trek is an 6 kilometre moderate hike up to the summit of Jarga Hill. Over the course of the trek, be on the lookout for beautiful birds and our naturalists will identify bird songs and tell you about trees and plants along the way. At the summit, enjoy some local fruits and lemonade as you watch the mighty Sita Falls across the valley. This trek is extra beautiful at sunset as the sky is painted in hues of pink. We can accommodate groups of up to 50 people at a time at a cost of INR 500/- per person.

We offer cultural activities through our village visits (starting from here), where visitors can learn about local farming, traditions and have a meal with the community for an extra cost of INR 300/-.

It was a very well organised trail. We had 8 chldren with us, but we didn't have to worry a bit about them. Food was sumptuous and grateful for the experience.

The Paradise Trail is amazingly serene and peaceful. It is a super fun trail to go for! From the guide telling us about the different trees to spotting unique birds, the entire trail was awesome. I would like to thank Ekastha Foundation as they did a magnificent job organising the entire trail.

I am from Ranchi and have never heard of any organized treks around the city until we came across Ekastha Trails! Big thumbs up to the entire team esp. our tour guides who are so knowledgeable about everything that surrounded us. Absolute nature experts! And a big shout out to Rishabh for organizing this beautiful trek for us :) We did the Jarga hill trek which is pretty easy for a regular trekker. We were a large group of adults and kids and all of us equally had an amazing time. Due to our varying walking pace, our total trek time was about 3.5 hours. The best part was spotting Sita falls in the midst of our trek in an open space with the strong winter sun on top, crisp fresh air and clear blue skies. Our guides had a surprise meal packed for us - organic tea and fresh juicy papaya which the group devoured thoroughly.

We did the jarga hill trek with my family including kids of age group 8 years to 14 years..We all had a great time... the trek is easy to moderate and is very safe.. one encounters woods, valleys, rocks, fields along the trail... with the winter sunlight embracing us, we all got the perfect dose of nature juice to rejuvenate ourselves..

Awesome!! A calm, quiet morning with birds chirping around and lush greenery of Jharkhand, this trekking experience was something different for me. The locals love nature and wildlife enthusiasts and they are very humble and respectful. Rishabh, the man who takes care of this trek is also a birder and he knows the locality quite well so he can be also helpful if you are a birder too. The trek is not very tough and the journey to reach the starting point is also very scenic and relaxing and also good opportunity for drive/ride through the jungle. Overall, it was a day well spent. 😀
