SARHUL
We initiated our sustainable livelihoods program to enhance the income generation capabilities of tribal communities in rural Jharkhand. We facilitate skill development and training workshops for local communities and have supported livelihoods such as mushroom farming, bamboo handicrafts, organic farming, and community led ecotourism. More than 60 community members in villages in Ranchi district have been trained and more than INR 6,59,805 have been generated.

After identifying a gap in quality primary education, we have initiated after-school classes in the villages of Koynardih and Hapatbeda. We work to improve learning outcomes for students aged 4 to 14 by conducting regular Hindi, English and Math classes. We have trained 6 local teachers to reach more than 80 students across the two villages. We conduct routine education assessments to monitor progress and course-correct, with improved educational indicators every year.
We believe in the importance of conserving, protecting and documenting the biodiversity of Jharkhand. By engaging in long term partnerships with communities, we co-create effective conservation strategies. We have conducted several clean up drives, doused forest fires and have been actively documenting species of flora and fauna of Jharkhand. We are also encouraging nature education by curating nature walks and learning exercises for children in the village, to make youth aware of the importance of biodiversity and conservation.

in Preserving Nature's Wonders:
Whether you are a nature enthusiast, a conservationist, or simply someone who cares about the environment, we welcome you to be part of our mission. Your contributions, be it through volunteering, spreading awareness, or supporting our initiatives, will make a profound impact on the future of Jonha's biodiversity.
Mr. Chamru Bediya
Mr. Sahebram Bediya
We have been working with community members, Mr. Chamru Bediya and Mr. Sahebram Bediya for the past 4 years. They have been our partners in boosting community led eco tourism initiatives around Koynardih. They lead our nature trails and have immense knowledge about the local flora and fauna.
Both our leaders have learnt wildlife film-making through the Green Hub Central India fellowship and are proud Green Hub fellows. Sahebram’s film “Gaj Dhoond Rahe Galiyara”, has received several accolades and has been screened alongside “Elephant Whisperers”, in Mumbai.
Their exemplary conservation activities also helped them become “Mud on Boots Fellows”, an initiative of the Sanctuary Asia Foundation through which they support grassroots conservation. Both these fellowships have helped Chamru and Saheb generate extra income and have supported the conservation work in Jonha.
